, with ktvu's john sasaki, on how that town is remembering its young victims. >> reporter: it is now 1:00 a.m. it is raining here. and yet there are still people here at the memorial at the base of the sandy hook christmas tree. this memorial has grown exponentially in the last few days. at the memorial, we met some sandy hook firefighters. >> we had a meeting, to talk through what we've seen. this helped. we came away feeling well. >> reporter: he said they are deeply moved by the show of support. >> i think at the end, we'll be stronger and grow as a community. >> reporter: two of the victims, the firefighters tried to help were laid to rest today. hundreds of people came together at the funeral home in newtown to say goodbye to 6- year-old football player, wrestler, and skier, jack pinto. >> it was real sad. >> reporter: flowers are in heavy demand this week for funerals and the many memorials that have popped up around town. this is alice's floorist in nearby bethel. >> you want to be able to help people at a time like this. i feel the flowers do comfort people. but this is so overwhel
. >>> oakland police confirm three people are under arrest in the shooting deaths of two teenaged girls. ktvu first reported the arrests on saturday, after talking with police sources. the suspects have not been identified. but are said to be two men and a boy. 15-year-old raquel grassle and 16-year-old bobby sarsane were gunned down november 25 near brookdale park. no motive has been mentioned. >>> a proposal to expand a sikh temple in fremont is drawing complaints from some neighbors. the tem system located on gurdwar road in the niles district. temple leaders want to expand the facility from 28,000 square feet to 41,000 square feet. but some neighbors say traffic and parking are already a big problem because of the temple. fremont city is expected to vote on the expected expansion at a january 24 meeting. >>> a public hearing tonight will be held in san mateo about the future of a new 711 store. last night, a small group of protesters picketed outside the 711 on north san mateo drive. they're worried about the noise and traffic in the area. and they say because of zoning laws, the city sho

hydrant. ktvu channel 2 reporter janine de la vega is live on sandhill road with a look at the flooding and how traffic is being affected. good morning, janine. >> reporter: good morning, tori. well, actual iy, this intersection at sandhill and el camino just opened up about tree minutes ago -- three minutes ago. work crews were trying to work quickly to get this cleaned up because this road is used to get on 280. this whole area was flooded for the past five hours because a hydrant was shooting water into the air. here is a look at this guiser. officers say just before 1:00 a.m., the driver lost control and hit the fire hydrant and kept driving. police caught up with him and arrested him for suspected dui. it took several hours for public work crews to shut off the water because they had a hard time getting to the valve. >> at first, the guiser was about 50 feet high. it was a constant stream of water. it flooded the roadways where we stopped traffic going westbound and we had to block off eastbound traffic as well so the cars would not hydroplane or anything like that. >> reporter: th
